+ Fur Surplus
Here is French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt wearing a Rick Owens’ leather jacket, it looks to be from his FW09 collection. This jacket is amazingly beautiful. The cut is simple and sophisticated but there’s a surplus of furs going around. From shrugs to Boot straps to Sleeveless Jackets and leather shalls women are modestly incorporating small bits of fur into their wardrobe. Though beautiful and fashionable some believe this is pretty tacky, giving the economic crisis of the country. People are loosing jobs and home’s while the well off flaunt their furs. Another interesting fact is, many fashion editors and writers are urging people to buy fake fur . In terms of global resources there are a lots of other probles that need to be embargoed along with furs. Jewelry, Furs, Material pesticides, work labor and the list continuous. I think that the fashion industry must look at the business in entirety before homing in on one specific issue, but its a start. Fur are beautiful, they’re just so hard to resist…what to do.
