I’m super excited about this recent collection from Iris Van Herpen. I believe Herpen has conjured up some Alexander Mcqueen-esc strong emotions in her newest collection titled, “Escapism.” Herpen’s collection focuses on the theories of escaping day-to-day reality. If Facebook, twitter, and Google+ don’t get you, there is a whole slew of digital platforms that are taking control of our lives. No one wants to deal with the reality in front of him or her. Iris van Herpen’s collection expresses her own concept of escapism. Artist Kris Kuksi‘s is credited as being her primary source of inspiration during her creative process. Herpen worked with London based architect Daniel Widrig’s & MGX productions on her Escapism concept. MGX production is a company that specializes in rapid prototyping, which was used for a lot of the collection. Herpen’s strategy was to meld modern form of prototyping with traditional or older techniques of clothing construction. All the garments in the collection are seamless, which is amazing. No sewing machine or handwork was involved in the making of the collection.
