It is always important to glance to the past for inspiration. Though so much has come from the fashion industry, there is yet an astonishing amount to be done. I came across this photo of Rudi Gernreich’s work while looking through a library of 60s attire.
Rudi Gernreich was a popular fashion designer in the 60s (August 8, 1922–April 21, 1985) and was well known for inventing the first topless swimsuit/monokini as well as a pubkini which reveal the woman’s lower frontal goodies if you will. Other then his provocative attire Gernreich was an activist and founder of Mattachine society for gay rights. This image along with many others is just an inkling of Gernreich works—and perhaps some of the most timeless images from that era.
